Project Officer – FTC until 30/6/2024

  • Fulltime, fixed term position until 30/6/2024
  • VPS 4 $91,418 to $103,725 + 11% superannuation
  • One percent salary increase from 1/12/2023 | $92,332 to $104,762.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Preventative Project Lead, the Project Officer is a member of a small team responsible for partnering with teams across EPA to deliver temporal projects across the state. You will contribute to the design, commissioning, management, and oversight of the delivery of projects aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.


In this role you will:

  • Working under the direction of the Preventative Project Lead and working closely with other parts of the EPA, design, plan and deliver time-bound (temporal) preventative projects aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities (such as fire prevention projects, pollution prevention projects, and environmental crime prevention projects).
  • Actively contribute to the development of a positive and high performing team culture, including by identifying and implementing opportunities to improve teamwork practices.
  • Implement good project management practices, consistent with the requirements set by the Corporate Services Division, to plan, oversight, manage, monitor and quality assure project delivery across the state.
  • Report against project milestones and outcomes, identifying and mitigating risks to project delivery and seeking opportunities to optimise outcomes for Victorian communities.
  • Contribute to building project management capability across the EPA.
  • Participate in the response to environmental and public health emergencies and incidents.

Skills and Experience:

  • A relevant tertiary degree or qualifications in project management, behavioural science or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Experience in project delivery.
  • Proven ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives and procedures, to achieve optimal organisational outcomes.
  • A proven record in translating complex or large volumes of information into clear and succinct documents (such as briefs, discussion papers, plans or reports) through the application of strategic and critical thinking.
  • Experience in the application of theory of change models, inclusive of Program Logics and monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills including the ability to effectively influence and negotiate with key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste is desirable.
