POSITION DESCRIPTION
HR Manager Benelux
The HR Manager Benelux Leader ensures the provision of high quality HR services for the BSEMIA HQ, Benelux sales organization and the distribution center in Zeebrugge, supporting the organization to deliver its business objectives through the roll-out and on-going execution of HR services and local, regional and global HR initiatives and projects.
As HR Manager you have a team of HR generalists and a facility management team. Together with your team you work closely together with the HRBP’s and are responsible for the ‘more soft HR programs and processes’, you also follow up and apply local social legislation. Below you will find an non exhaustive overview of the primary responsibilities to give you a feel of what the function is about.
Primary responsibilities and activities
Talent Attraction, Employer Branding, Recruitment and Onboarding
- Ensure attraction of the right employees to meet the workforce needs of BSEMIA HQ and other entities in Benelux
- Reinforce Bridgestone EMIA employer branding at local level
- Provide monthly metrics on the staffing activities to track progress and identify opportunities for improvement to the HRBP team and business leadership.
- Lead recruitment activity for BSEMIA HQ and other Benelux entities to ensure effective and efficient staffing of positions below Director level;
- Ensure and support proper induction of new employees in BSEMIA HQ, including regular follow up along the first year.
- Ensure all new employees are provided with appropriate access to policies authority schedules to ensure compliance.
Employee Engagement
- Facilities Management
- Responsibility for the management of the facilities services of the BSEMIA HQ building and the Bandag training center.
- Ensure a safe and compliant work environment for all BSEMIA HQ based employees.
- Ensure compliance with the BSEMIA car policy and manage local fleet program.
- Management of the facilities budget and capital expenses.
- Monthly tracking of expenses and compliance to policies.
- Employee Engagement (BSEMIA HQ):
- Ensure compliance with all Belgian legislation with regard to employee health and well-being.
- Implement communication process and tools to support business performance and employee engagement; organize information sessions, provide input to town halls, social activities (open day, specific celebrations, etc.)
- Ensure the implementation of the Performance Management process for all eligible employees in BSEMIA HQ (in coordination with European HRBPs). As needed, support the HRBPs in the facilitation of performance calibration sessions.
- Support the employee engagement survey process. Ensure employees receive timely information regarding the survey and follow up on local action planning process.
- Coach and counsel leaders below Director level on effective performance management tools including feedback, coaching, and mentoring
- Implement an employee wellness approach that incorporates the nature of work performed and best practices in occupational health and safety
- Work Environment (BSEMIA HQ):
- Ensure all policies, procedures, and employee documentation are in compliance with national and European regulations
- Ensure compliance with internal and external safety regulations, promote safety awareness, deal with Health and Safety Committee
- Ensure all employees receive the appropriate compliance training and information
- Manage facility to ensure a safe, compliant and engaging work environment for the employees
- Labor / employee relations (BSEMIA HQ):
- Coordinate all labor relations activities at the site in order to maintain a positive employee relations climate
- Manage local works councils
- Manage disputes and issues; prevent and solve labor conflicts
- When legally required negotiate with employee representatives changes in working conditions and implement them accordingly
- Provide on-going coaching and support to line managers on labor regulations and proper way for implementing decisions impacting employees
- Manage the employee/union grievance process
Reward & Recognition:
- For roles below director, work with the HRBP to develop compensation proposals for promotions and external hires within Company guidelines (BSEMIA HQ and Benelux sales).
- Coach and counsel leaders below director level on Bridgestone’s total rewards approach and tools to differentiate performance, recognize and reward accomplishment, and retain high potential/high performing talent (BSEMIA HQ and Benelux sales)
Organizational Effectiveness & Talent Development: (BSEMIA HQ)
- Partner with leaders supporting the culture change to a high performing organization with engaged employees and positive employee relations through robust and effective communication processes
- Advice and support managers in termination processes; ensure terminations are managed according to internal and external regulations and company values
- Implement the training programs required to support development and retention of staff, utilizing the 70-20-10 developmental approach
- Continuous improvement and streamlining of the various HR Ops processes in Belgium across all sites
- Develop proposals to harmonize working regulations across all Belgian sites, in line with CoE guidelines and the various global/regional projects that are ongoing.
- Meet and/or improve HR budget commitments

Experience & Required capabilities
- 8 to 10 years minimum experience in similar roles within multinational companies, in a matrix organization
- University Degree (or equivalent in years of experience) in HR/Organization or General management or Law or Psychology
- Experience in an international environment is a plus
- Exposure to and experience in leading HR practices in the responsibility areas mentioned above
- Reliable and integer person with very good communication skills – both written and spoken
- Customer oriented approach; efficient service level
- Able to perform under pressure and with demanding deadlines
- Work ethics according to Bridgestone Essence and demonstrating Company Behaviors
- Curiosity
- Languages: Flemish / French, English fluent
- Able to work in a matrix organization
- Collaboration, EI, effective relationships skills
